What we collect
- Contact information collected during sign-up, such as name, email, phone number if optional text messages are selected, ZIP code, and utility.
- Read-only utility electricity interval usage data retrieved through Bayou Energy after your authorization.
- Utility billing summary data, such as billing amounts, supply and delivery charges, billing period dates, and rate details, retrieved through your authorized utility account connection via Bayou Energy.
- Service participation data, including sign-up dates, account-connection status, messages sent, support requests, and survey responses.
- If you choose Wattvia Assist, the conversation text you send and device details identified from a photo. Wattvia does not store the photo.
- Text message consent status, timestamp, opt-out status, and the consent form version used during sign-up.
- Basic website interaction data if hosting analytics are enabled, such as page views, referrers, browser type, and approximate location derived from IP address.
How we use it
We use this information to generate personalized energy usage analysis, provide feedback through email and optional text messages, operate Wattvia, troubleshoot support questions, and improve the service.
Wattvia Assist uses conversation text, your Wattvia timing targets, and any photo you choose to send to provide device setup or utility-data help. Photos are processed for the current answer and are not retained in Wattvia storage. We retain the conversation and any device type, make, or model identified from the photo.
Billing summary data is used only for modeled bill comparison analysis and to validate energy rate calculations. It is not used to make account decisions, change your utility service, or change your rate plan.
Wattvia provides educational modeling only. It does not change your utility account, utility service, meter, or rate plan.
Text message consent
Text message consent is optional and recorded separately from using Wattvia. Wattvia stores consent status, timestamp, opt-out status, and form version from sign-up.
You can opt out of Wattvia text messages at any time by replying STOP. Opting out of text messages does not stop email updates or close your account.
Retention
Service data, including utility interval usage data and historical Wattvia results, is retained for as long as your Wattvia account remains open. We use that data to provide and preserve your account history, operate and support Wattvia, conduct internal analysis, and improve the service. Canceling a subscription stops renewal and, when applicable, new utility-data collection, but does not by itself close the account or delete its historical data.
After we verify an account-closure or deletion request, we revoke account access and delete personal and household-linkable service data within 30 days, except for limited records that we must retain for legal, compliance, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, tax, accounting, or audit purposes. Those retained records are not used to continue canceled service.
Limited internal quality-assurance records that do not identify or reasonably link back to you or your household and do not include raw interval histories, such as error and status timestamps, content digests, parser and software-version diagnostics, and delivery-state evidence, may be retained for up to 90 days after account deletion.
If Wattvia creates aggregate or de-identified statistical data that cannot reasonably be linked to you or your household, we may retain and use that data indefinitely for internal research, technical validation, analytics, and product improvement. We maintain technical and organizational safeguards against re-identification and do not treat removal or hashing of direct identifiers alone as de-identification. This does not permit us to retain raw or household-linkable interval histories after a verified deletion request.
Text message opt-out records may be retained indefinitely for compliance so that opt-out preferences remain honored.
